Leartiker present in most important international fairs

The technological centre Leartiker is participating in the International trade fair for plastics processing, FAKUMA, that is celebrated from October 16 to October 20 in Friedrichshafen. Fakuma is one of the most important fairs worldwide on the processing of industrial plastic; it is held every year in Germany. The fair, that celebrates its 26th edition this year, brought together more than 1900 exhibitors from 38 countries. It is estimated that more than 48.000 professionals of the sector will visit it.

Leartiker has its own stand in Fakuma where it is showing its specializations in the area of polymers and the advances it has realized in that area; for example the methodology of characterization, simulation and design that it uses for the prediction of the behaviour of fatigue in rubbers. Nevertheless, the fair this year will be centred in showing the pieces that had been developed within the European project Aerocar*. In Fakuma, Leartiker will show for the first time to the public the piece developed in cooperation with Aeronova. Both entities will soon start the validation tests of this aeronautical piece that had been developed with automotive industry materials and processes. Furthermore, within this project also, other pieces were developed with other materials.

Fakuma is an excellent event to meet partners from different projects, clients and suppliers, to analyse new opportunities and to exchange opinions about ongoing projects.

It is the fourth time that Leartiker takes part in this fair, and as in the previous years, it will take advantage of the opportunity to establish and tighten relationships with clients and international partners.

Digimatum 2018, another October meeting

Leartiker also took part in the International Fair of Digimat software users' that had been celebrated in Prague from October 9 to October 11.

Digimat is a software of simulation for the modelling of structures and materials that predicts the properties of the advanced materials, saving time in design and tests as well as in resources for the manufacturers.

This software is especially useful for the projects in which it is necessary to develop new prototypes, as the European project AEROCAR for example. The fair has been an excellent opportunity to deepen the knowledge of this tool and to exchange opinions and experiences with other users and experts.

More than 150 experts of the automotive industry, the aerospace one and the additive manufacturing have visited the fair. Then, it was a good opportunity to discuss what to do so that the use of compound materials be more within reach and predictable and come to solutions to gain yield in the life cycle of the product.

AEROCAR is a 3-year European project co-financed by the Interreg Sudoe Program through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) that will end in June 2019. The project is led by Leartiker who collaborates in its development with other European entities: CTAG (Automotive Technology Centre of Galicia), RESCOLL (Technological Centre specialized in development of materials, France) and INEGI (Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Portugal).

AEROCAR aims to create a constant synergy between the sectors of the aeronautics and the automotive sectors. This will provide improvements in the productivity through the creation of new technologies, materials or processes, or through their transfer from one sector to another. Hence, the technologies that develop within the project will be those that the automotive sector could apply to the issues of the aeronautical sector and vice versa. This method will allow to reach the whole potential of the existing technologies and will facilitate the technological transfer.
