Second edition of the DYNAeLAST international event, sustainable transport’s challenges and opportunities
The second edition of DYNAeLAST International Event brought together leading experts to address sustainable transport’s challenges and opportunities. Pierre Furtwengler from Renault Group, William Mars from Endurica, Brice Taillet from Metravib and Aizeti Burgoa from Leartiker, completed a panel of experts who shared their knowledge at this event which was broadcast live on youtube.
DYNAeLAST is a specialized forum to exchange information and meet people interested in elastomers in general, and thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) and their dynamic applications in particular. Within its Sustainable Transport specialization area, Leartiker has a long history linked to the research of elastomers; seeking from the formulation of new materials to the design and development of functional components, including characterisation and simulation methodologies to predict their thermo-mechanical properties (static, dynamic and durability).
At the event held at the end of October, Pierre Furtwengler, technical polymer specialist at Renault Group, was the first to participate with his presentation "TPE, the future for electric and sustainable vehicles". Furtwengler spoke about Renault's sustainable policies and decarbonation commitment, as well as the expectations they have for the use of TPE materials in electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles.

The second expert participating at the event was Brice Taillet, General Manager at METRAVIB Material Testing (ACOEM Group). His speech focused on dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and its application in fatigue analysis, which he accompanied with some very interesting case studies on the application of DMA in elastomeric products requiring dynamic vibration damping properties.
After a break to assimilate all the information shared by the experts, ENDURICA founder and president Will Mars, an international leader in the failure mechanics of rubber and elastomers, came online from the USA. His presentation focused on elastomer fatigue life prediction using multichannel load signal input and the use of this strategy to predict the fatigue life of an elastomeric component with applications in the automotive industry.
Finally, it was Aizeti Burgoa, Leartiker researcher specialized in elastomers, who conclude the second edition of DYNAeLAST with her lecture. A presentation on simulation strategies to control and predict the effects of injection moulding process parameters on the final properties of parts made of TPV-type thermoplastic elastomers.

Leartiker and its commitment to specialization
With the definition of the 2025 Strategic Plan, Leartiker opted to strengthen specialization in its two fields of activity, Polymers Technology and Food Technology, and to achieve greater specificity and technological leadership. Thus, in 2021, the idea of organizing the international DYNAeLAST event was born, a place to update and learn about the latest advances in the dynamic properties and applications of elastomers in the transport industry.
Leartiker Technology Centre, member of the BRTA alliance (Basque Research and Technology Alliance), organized the first edition of this international event in June 2022, which for its second edition has opted for live broadcasting via youtube. However, a return to the on-site format is not ruled out for future editions of DYNAeLAST.
