Bioprinting of human myocardium in GMP-compliant bioreactors

Project details

Abbreviation: KARDIO3D

Start date: 2025-01-01End date: 2026-06-30

Budget: 71.405 €

Centre bugdet: 34.778 €

Funding: Eurorregión 2024 (Nº de Exp.: 2024/46)

Description

The aim of the project is to assess the feasibility of generating a three-dimensional GMP-compatible human myocardium. Human induced pluripotent stem cells will be differentiated into cardiomyocytes and cardiac fibroblasts, and laser-assisted bioprinting in GMP-compatible bioreactors will be used to generate the tissues. They will then be cultured to test the viability of this product. This project will lay the groundwork for the future generation of a joint health service and product.

Participants
  • Universidad de Navarra (UNAV)
  • Biotis, Inserm U1026
  • Leartiker S. Coop.
Activities carried out by Leartiker

Leartiker will carry out re-engineering and adjustments to make the bioreactor compatible with the laser-assisted bioprinting equipment.  The culture chamber that will collect the bioprinted tissue will need to be adjusted to the bioprinting area.
