Description

The main objective of this project is to develop tumour microenvironments that accurately simulate the different types of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) tumours, generating tumour twin models that faithfully reflect the characteristics of patients' tumours. This approach will enable an in-depth study of tumour biology, growth, evolution and response to treatment, providing more representative and controlled models for research. These models aim to facilitate the development of more effective and personalised therapies, thereby improving treatment options for patients.

Participants
  • Leartiker (Project leader)
  • EHU (Departments of Physiology and Medicine)
  • IIS Biogipuzkoa
  • IIS Biobizkaia
  • DIPC
Activities carried out by Leartiker
  • Project management and direction.
  • Development and characterisation of different hydrogels, which will serve as a support for cell growth and will be included in the CCA-on-chip system, integrating different types of extracellular matrices, simulating the characteristics and heterogeneity present in CCA tumours.
  • Improve/adapt the CCA-on-chip device that was developed and patented in the BILCHIP project.
