Development of a new technology for improving the maturation of human scale therapeutic cardiac tissues by means of physiological stimuli

Project details

Abbreviation: BihoBeat

Start date: 2022-12-01End date: 2026-12-31

Funding: BRAV3 + CardioPrint

Description

The main objective of the BihoBeat research project is the development of a new technology to improve the maturation of cardiac tissue on a human scale in vitro. To this end, two bioreactors capable of simulating both the environment and bio-mimetic stimuli will be designed and developed. Experiments with small tissues will be performed to define the optimal maturation parameters and the tissues will be characterized mechanically and biologically. With the optimal parameters, human-scale tissues will be matured.
